The team here at Element Preservation believes that all wedding day florals are important and worth saving. We understand that it’s not always possible to source fresh blooms that exactly match the vibe and vision of your dreams. When that happens, florists often supply faux flowers to mix in with the fresh to create a full, lush bouquet. Whether it's due to the season, the specific colors, or location, sometimes faux florals really come in handy for finishing out a bouquet. Of course, some brides choose to use exclusively faux florals, because of their vibrancy and the ability to twist and manipulate them as needed. Whether you have a few or a full faux flower bouquet, Element Preservation can turn them into gorgeous works of art. Here, we answer some of your pressing questions about faux flowers. If you plan to have faux flowers, or have found yourself with a few mixed in, we’ve got you and you preservation covered!
Can you press faux flowers?
Yes! While there are a few exceptions, most faux flowers can easily be pressed by our preservation team. Wood flowers are unfortunately not able to be pressed, but we can press silk and most foam florals to the same level of flatness as most fresh florals. We use a variety of methods to ensure that the faux flowers look just as gorgeous as ever in their preservation pieces.
Can faux flowers go in resin?
Because we are able to press faux flowers just as we are fresh ones, they are able to go into any of our products. For resin, the only exception would be for items that are too thick to be poured over, which can also be true of fresh items. If your bouquet has something a little thicker, we will be sure to reach out to you.
Resin can change the color of some silk flowers, typically making the colors darker and more saturated.
How do they look next to real flowers?
We quite like the juxtaposition of fresh and faux flowers! Of course, this is subjective, but we particularly like colorful faux flowers mixed with naturally colored blooms in a resin item or framed preservation piece. Faux flowers will not change much with time, and the colors will stick around.
Do we have to use them?
When we receive a bouquet that has just a few faux flowers, we will reach out to the client to ensure that they are aware that they have faux florals, and whether they would like them used in the designs. If you would not like to use faux florals, but we don’t have quite enough to fill out your order, we would strongly suggest adding on our Rose Experience, which will allow us to pull flowers for you as needed, and we can match flower types to those that were faux.
If it is an entirely faux bouquet, we will proceed with those flowers, as there would not be any flowers to replace them, but you could have your bouquet recreated with fresh flowers, which we would then press and turn into your frame or resin preservation pieces.
