5 Things To Consider When Choosing Your Preservation Pieces

When you get married, you have so many choices to make! Element Preservation is here to help you with all of your options when it comes to preserving your wedding flowers. You may be wondering which of our frame colors will work for your home, or whether you want to incorporate additional elements into your preservation piece.

We’ve compiled five of the questions you may ask yourself before choosing your preservation, and provided some guidance on how to make the choices that will work best for you. Your wedding bouquet is special and deserves to be cherished alongside your love for years to come.

1. What do you want to hold on to?

At Element, we see a lot of different arrangements come through our doors. Bridal bouquets are the most common, and we typically see our clients choosing to have the flowers they carried down the aisle be used to design a 16x20 frame or in a serving tray. Boutonnières can be included as an addition in these items, a sweet nod to both bride and groom. Boutonnières and corsages can also be used in resin ring dishes or ornaments. Flower crowns and floral dog collars can be recreated in 10x10 frames or resin display trays.

You can also send us your centerpieces, archway flowers, and bridesmaids bouquets to create a large swathe of products. We offer several bundle deals, which give you plenty of options for different ways to make keepsakes of various floral arrangements.

If you have other special items, like photos or your invitations, you can check out our Paper Preservation line. These are 10x10 frames that put the paper memories in the forefront, with dainty florals on the corners. You can also add paper products and other items to our custom bouquet preservation pieces. Ribbons and other fabrics look amazing in our 16x20 frames, and we can even add them to our resin pieces. Charms and beading can be included in resin items as well, though they are often too thick to go into frames.

When you think of your perfect preservation piece, consider what you wish to carry with you into your married life. Your flowers and sentimental items were things you chose carefully to have with you or be a part of your day. Why not have them all together?

2. What kind of flowers did you have?

We have seen all types of florals come through our doors, so believe us when we say we can press just about anything! The flowers that you choose can help determine the direction of your preservation.  For all white bouquets, we suggest our natural frames, which will balance beautifully with the golden tones that preserved white flowers often adopt. If you have a lot of colorful blooms, check out our color change guides, which will give you an idea of how they will change.

The shape and style of your bouquet can also inform your choice when it comes to preservation. If you have a dainty bouquet, you may want to have products that allow smaller individual flowers to shine, like our coaster sets or display trays. For large, lush, floral arrangements, our triptych bundle can display the full majesty of your bouquet in three large frames. The shape style of your flowers may also help you decide which type of design style you would like to have. Whimsical bouquets work really well as a field style, meant to mimic flowers blossoming in nature. Cascading bouquets are gorgeously recreated by our designers in the burst style, which is designed to look as close to the day you held it as possible.

3. Looking for purely decor or for something functional?

All of our products are beautiful, so whether you are looking to decorate your newlywed home or to have things you can use around the house, we can make something stunning that you would want to stop looking at.

For pure decoration, our frames are the way to go. Our talented team of preservation specialists press and then design pressed flower artwork for our clients that are meant to be cherished as keepsakes. We hope that these pieces are passed down through families as they grow and change. They are portraits of a moment in time, reminders of great love shared.

If you want something that is just as beautiful and mindfully crafted, our resin products are perfect for you. These items are made to be used. Our ring dishes and display trays are lovely places to keep your wedding rings safe while doing the dishes, and serving trays can be a fun conversation piece when serving drinks to your newly minted in-laws.

4. What is your home’s decor?

When thinking about preserving, you may want to look around your home and compare our products to the things you have already chosen to decorate with and the overall style you’ve curated. Maximalist? Our gold frames in a gallery bundle will give you a lot to work with, especially if you go with a colored backing board. Midcentury or modern? Gray and white frames compliment a simple decor style very well. If you have wallpaper or textured walls, you may or may not love a floating frame, which has the flowers sitting between two pieces of glass.

You may be thinking about which shapes of our resin products to choose between and thinking of your home decor can help here, too. Rectangle trays and square coasters are simple, classic shapes that are versatile. Our geometric serving trays and hexagon coasters are a touch more playful, and the circle coasters and ring dishes are lovely.

5. Will you be giving the gift of a preservation piece to anyone?

Of course, you want to have your own pieces, but giving the gift of preserved florals to those special to you can be a great way to say “thank you” to a bridal party or bring even more joy to your family members. We love the idea of spreading the love of flowers by including others in your preservation process. We have seen clients order two coaster sets and give one to various loved ones. We can even recreate boutonnieres and corsages in them that were worn by those receiving the gift! 10x10 and 6x6 frames are another great option for gifts, especially for family members.

We hope that these tips and details about our process and products help make it easy to decide on how to preserve your most sentimental flowers. Our pressed flower artwork is beautiful and fully custom to you, and we want every piece you receive from us to be just as you imagined it to be.
